Scale values dialog

To open the Scale values dialog, do one of the following:

  • Click Table options / Chart options> Scale values.
  • Select View menu> Table options / Chart options> Scale values.

Applying scaling to data values alters them by the chosen scaling value. You can add, subtract, multiply, or divide by any non-zero number from -1E100 to +1E100. (That is, from -10100 to +10100.)

For example, for a data value of 12 and a scaling factor of 10:

Note: To edit a value on the scaling page, either double-click it or else select it and press F2. Then type or select the new value.

To apply scaling:

  1. In Measure, choose the measure to which scaling will be applied.
  2. In Scaling operator, choose an operator from the drop-down list.
  3. In Scaling value, type a value. You can enter any number from -1E100 to +1E100.
  4. If you wish, you can use the Number of decimals dropdown list to choose a number of decimals that is different from the default. For example, when scaling currency values you could choose to have more than two decimals to show partial cents.

Note: The Number of decimals setting only takes effect if scaling is applied. It cannot be used to reformat numbers without scaling.

  5. In Name (Or Name - Language), type a name for the scaled measure. If you do not provide a name, the default name will be used. For example, the default name "Sales / 10" indicates that the Sales measure's values have been divided by a factor of 10.
  6. When you have finished, click Show updated report.
